SAN DIEGO — San Diego residents can now come face-to-face with the serpent of the sea, the Oarfish, for a limited time at Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Birch Aquarium visitors can see the 11-foot oarfish that was found near Leucadia last November. The new limited-time, immersive exhibit, “Oarfish: Recent Discoveries from the Collection of Scripps Institution of Oceanography,” will take visitors into the deep waters where this rare fish lives.

A SigAlert has been issued for the southbound lanes and traffic is expected to be delayed for up to two hours. SAN DIEGO — One person is dead after a multi-vehicle collision Saturday morning, prompting a shutdown of the Interstate 805 southbound, according to CHP records. The crash happened around 8:50 a.m. near Palm Avenue and 43rd Street. Traffic is being diverted to SR-94. A SigAlert has been issued for the southbound lanes and traffic is expected to be delayed for up to two hours.
