Folks in Manhattan must think my job is pretty cool, because I keep getting invited to speak at career days across the Little Apple. A few months ago, I waxed poetic about sports journalism with a cafeteria filled with middle schoolers and I was blown away with how many questions they had for a K-State beat writer. What is my favorite stadium? Who is my favorite player? What is the best article I have ever written? What sporting event do I want to cover the most? One kid asked for my autograph.

The Kansas State football team will have a new strength and conditioning coach next season. Trumain Carroll, a highly respected trainer who helped the Wildcats win 36 games over the past four seasons, is leaving head coach Chris Klieman's staff to accept a similar job with the USC Trojans. Things keep getting better for the Kansas State women’s golf team. Behind star senior Carla Bernat, the Wildcats had such a good regular season that they earned a rare invitation to the NCAA Lexington Regional. Now, thanks to an incredible third round on Wednesday, they are heading to nationals for the first time in school history. K-State shot 10-under as a team in Round 3 to finish in a tie for second place behind regional team champion Florida State at Keene Trace Golf Club in Kentucky.

Brett Yormark was relatively unknown in the world of college sports when the Big 12 hired him as its commissioner in 2022. Three years later, his name has become synonymous with the conference. So much so that the Big 12's board of directors has voted to give Yormark a three-year contract extension. The new deal will run through 2030. His original five-year deal was set to expire in 2027.
