News Brief Wednesday November 13, 2024 11:21 am A Nov. 7 report from the Legislative Analyst’s Office looking back at UC Merced’s first 20 years finds that the campus in several respects contrasts the rest of the University of California system. The report also tracks mixed progress toward improving the San Joaquin Valley region’s educational and economic outcomes. LAO found that the UC Merced student body differs from those of other UC campuses in several ways.

News Brief Wednesday November 13, 2024 9:56 am The second annual inventory of campus housing at California State University found that roughly 10,000 CSU students are either waitlisted for housing or have taken themselves off of waitlists since the system’s last housing report. Cal State has almost 4,000 students on campus housing waiting lists, according to an annual report dated Oct. 23.

News Brief Tuesday November 12, 2024 9:22 am Black and Latino students in the Los Angeles Unified School District were among those targeted in a series of racist messages across the country. Reports began bubbling up last week; and 32 students in the district had reported receiving them as of Sunday, according to CBS. “We are aware of racist and incendiary texts that are being sent to students nationwide, including some of our students,” said Superintendent Alberto Carvalho in a statement.
