The Clovis Unified School District in Fresno County has received a $10 million state grant to raise student attendance and achievement, The Fresno Bee reported. The five-year grant to seven schools comes from the California Community Schools Partnership Program, and will also be used for professional development in early literacy for teachers and behavioral counseling for students, the newspaper reported.

The question of whether or not the Oakland Unified School District board has fired Superintendent Kyla Trammell-Johnson depends on who is asked, KQED reported. While the board discussed Trammell-Johnson leaving the district at a Wednesday night closed-door meeting, board president Jennifer Brouhard reported to the public that no action had been taken, KQED reported.

News Brief Friday, March 28, 2025 — 9:43 am If you’re a Californian with an email address, you now have access to a whole new virtual bookshelf of 300,000 eBooks and audiobooks thanks to the California State Library. The project, California’s Bookshelf, can be accessed via The Palace Project app. Patrons have access to 70,000 unique titles in 20 languages across many genres, including young adult fiction and nonfiction and children’s books ranging from picture books to chapter books.
