Janice will be retiring (Image: Family picture) THE devoted manager of Wynsors Shoes on Boundary Road is set to retire this year after 31 years in the role. Janice Ikin, from Thatto Heath, has proudly held the reins at the site located next door to Morrisons for more than three decades. However, due to health issues is retiring at the end of March.

Emergency services in place after death of man (Image: Jonathon Taylor 9461) EMERGENCY services are in place in Earlestown today after the death of a man. At around 6.10am today Wednesday, January 8 police received a report of a concern for safety of a man who was found unconscious on Queen Street after sustaining a head injury following a suspected fall. He had previously got off a train at Earlestown Station.

Five rescued from early hours house fire (Image: Royal Berkshire Fire Authority) FIVE people were rescued from a house fire in the early hours by crews. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident on Garswood Road in Ashton-In-Makerfield, in the early hours of Tuesday, January 7. Crews were alerted at 00.45 and on scene at 00.57, with two fire engines attending. An additional fire engine from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was on scene shortly after.

Residents in St Helens win People's Postcode Lottery prize (Image: Stock) IT HAS been a great Tuesday morning for some residents in St Helens who have claimed a prize in the People's Postcode Lottery. The winning residents in the area of Moss Lane, Windle, are celebrating after scooping a £1,000 win today, January 7. Each month, people can sign up with their postcode and pay £12 a month to be in with a chance of winning the draw.
