At around 6.10am today Wednesday, January 8 police received a report of a concern for safety of a man who was found unconscious on Queen Street after sustaining a head injury following a suspected fall. He had previously got off a train at Earlestown Station.

Five rescued from early hours house fire (Image: Royal Berkshire Fire Authority) FIVE people were rescued from a house fire in the early hours by crews. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident on Garswood Road in Ashton-In-Makerfield, in the early hours of Tuesday, January 7. Crews were alerted at 00.45 and on scene at 00.57, with two fire engines attending. An additional fire engine from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was on scene shortly after.

The winning residents in the area of Moss Lane, Windle, are celebrating after scooping a £1,000 win today, January 7. Each month, people can sign up with their postcode and pay £12 a month to be in with a chance of winning the draw.

A new educational centre will create more spaces for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to have bespoke support to help them reach their full potential. Members of St Helens Borough Council’s Planning Committee approved the application for Four Ways Children’s Centre on Burnage Avenue in Clock Face, to be transformed into an expanded specialist education service that is currently located at Rectory C of E School in Garswood.

Butterfly sculpture recognises hospital’s commitment to promoting tissue donation

The statue was unveiled this week (Image: The statue was unveiled this week) A bronze sculpture of a butterfly has been unveiled at Whiston Hospital in recognition of the work to support tissue donation. The bespoke artwork was donated by NHS Blood and Transplant and now takes pride of place in the centre of the Organ Donation Garden at the front of the hospital. It recognises the life-changing impact that transplants have thanks to the selflessness of donors and their loved ones.
