    Two Irish citizens living in Berlin have been issued with deportation orders for involvement in pro-Palestinian protests in the German capital, they have said in a statement. Shane O'Brien and Roberta Murray were issued with deportation orders by the state of Berlin, which oversees immigration enforcement. They have been ordered to leave Germany by 21 April. A Polish citizen and a US citizen were also issued with the order.

    The ban on ownership of XL Bully dogs, which came into effect today, is causing "mass confusion and panic" among dog owners and shelters, the head of the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) has said. DSPCA CEO Pat Watt said that while the charity successfully rehomed its XL bullies, there were worries a significant number of XL bullies in shelters around the country were going to be euthanised as they could not be rehomed by the deadline.

    Taoiseach Simon Harris has said he intends to seek the dissolution of the Dáil this Friday to pave the way for a General Election, with a hope that polling day will be on Friday 29 November. It follows much speculation around the likely date that the country will go to the polls. The final obstacle to calling the election was removed last night when the Dáil passed the Finance Bill - the legislation that underpins the financial measures in Budget 2025.
