    WELLSTON — When Gary and Tracy Isbell retired from their jobs in Tulsa, Okla. two years ago, they set out in their RV with the single goal to find an area in some other part of the country to build or buy an RV park. What they didn’t know at the time was it would take them down an interesting path eventually leading them to the new and exciting second career they were looking for, in the Wellston area. It was there they became the owners of Heart of the Forest RV Park in September.

Something along those lines took place in the first week of April when we experienced something I like to refer to as “a showcase of nNorthern Michigan weather.” I am not quite certain if Mother Nature was pulling an April Fool’s joke on us or what was happening, but we had one of the most unique weather days I have ever experienced on my time on this Earth.

    It’s hard to believe how rapidly the 2024-25 school year is nearing the finish line, putting another year of learning in the books — or in today’s technology world language, in the laptops. Wasn’t it just yesterday when those big yellow buses started roaming our streets for the start of another school year? it seems almost impossible we will see senior classes receiving their diplomas at commencement ceremonies around the county starting in the middle of May.
