MANISTEE — Those eager to see a short-term rental ordinance in the city of Manistee will have to keep waiting. A motion to introduce a short-term rental ordinance was voted down by Manistee City Council on Tuesday, with Wesley Smith, Liz Laskey, Kay Keck and Jim Grabowski voting no. Julia Raddatz, Jermaine Sullivan and Lani Rozga voted in favor of the motion.

MANISTEE — A 33-year-old Manistee man is facing charges related to domestic violence, interfering with electronic communications and a probation violation after an arrest Tuesday. According to a post on the City of Manistee Facebook page, Manistee County Central Dispatch received a call from a female whispering for help. The Manistee City Police Department responded to the 200 block of Hughes Street in the city of Manistee to investigate.

MANISTEE — With the Apple MacBook Airs used by Manistee Area Public Schools secondary students starting to show their age, district technology director Ken Blakey-Shell decided it was time to make a change by going away from laptops for students in favor of tablets. During its regular April meeting, the school board approved a $512,779 purchase for technology upgrades throughout the district, including 650 11-inch iPads for students and teachers at Manistee Middle High School.
