Mukwelle Akale had a monster Saturday night for New Mexico United, scoring one goal and setting up two more as NMU took a 3-0 road win over Oakland Roots SC. Chris Gloster and Zico Bailey also scored for NMU, which won in California for a second straight week. Both victories came by decisive 3-0 scores. Oakland seemed to have no answer for Akale, United's speedy forward who created one scoring chance after another.

May 21—Chalk up another one for small ball and the San Jose State Spartans. For the second straight season, SJSU singled, scratched and clawed its way to victory in a first-round Mountain West tournament matchup against the University of New Mexico baseball team. The power-hitting Lobos could not generate enough big hits in a season-ending 6-3 defeat Wednesday at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona.

Going to the wire after @UNMLoboBaseball comes from behind to win all 3 at SDSU & Nevada sweeps Fresno. Last two MW weekends will be interesting: UNM - at Air Force, home vs. Fresno Nevada - SDSU, at San Jose St. Fresno St. - San Jose St., at UNM (Nevada has tiebreakers) https://t.co/nGziwntk2r

Halftime: El Paso 1, NM United 0 Visitors were outplayed for most of the first 45, getting outshot 9-4 (5-2 on target) and only holding 49% of possession. Shaky passing setting up too many EP chances. NMU has been a second-half team - needs to be again.
