Sunset Point Rest Area was named one of the top rest stops in the country by a recent survey. While we don't disagree that the Interstate 17 rest area and its "expansive views" are lovely, Sunset Point isn't the only scenic place for a pit stop in the Grand Canyon State. There are 18 rest areas operated by the Arizona Department of Transportation. Some aren't much to look at — unless you prefer dry and dusty views — but others highlight the beautiful and varied vistas Arizona is known for.

Out of over 30 new bars and restaurants that opened in metro Phoenix in April, four of them (arguably the four most exciting) were in Tempe. New Tempe eateries ranged from an upbeat Indian restaurant on Mill Avenue to a fancy Italian restaurant in south Tempe. Other openings included an upscale Sonoran restaurant at a golf course and the expansion of a Phoenix-based cidery. Here's a look at four new restaurants that are now open in Tempe.

Phoenix Suns fans were prepared for the nightmare, but it didn't arrive in its most obvious form. The Houston Rockets, who held the Suns' first-round selection, had a very slim chance (3.8%) at winning the May 12 NBA Draft Lottery, and, in keeping with the odds, drew the No. 10 pick. Disaster avoided, right? Well, another Suns rival in the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks, had an even slimmer chance to win the lottery.

Lori Vallow Daybell's attempt to dismiss an attempted murder charge in Arizona was denied by a judge. Daybell is currently serving a life sentence in Idaho for the murders of her two children and her husband's former wife. The attempted murder charge stems from a 2019 shooting involving her niece's ex-husband, Brandon Boudreaux. A Maricopa County judge has declined to toss an attempted murder charge against Lori Vallow Daybell ahead of her second Arizona trial.

The Phoenix Suns really don’t have a lottery pick in next month’s NBA Draft. No, really, they don’t. The Suns ended the 2024-25 season with a 36-46 record and failed to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season , but they traded away their 2025 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets when landing Kevin Durant in a blockbuster deal before the 2023 trade deadline. The Nets then traded the pick to the Houston Rockets last summer.
