Nina* is a 72-year-old woman in reasonably good health. She talked to one of us (Sam) recently about her life—and in particular, the sense that she had grown tired of being alive and was ready for the exit. Nina wasn't feeling suicidal or filled with anxiety and depression, but she was certain that she was ready to die.
