I see that our new Clark County School District superintendent, Jhone Ebert, has declared that she will be focusing her attention on improved student outcomes, and that effort will, of course, once again require additional revenues. You can’t help but roll your eyes and throw up your arms with shock when these Nevada Democrat elected officials show their disgust with the potential elimination of the Department of Education. What are they mad about? What has the department done for our kids? Where are the results? Show me its value in terms of educating our youths. Oh … there is none. Our kids are failing miserably.

I understand, to some degree, that many on the left will automatically hate everything that President Donald Trump and his team do from now until the end of his term — whether or not what he does actually makes sense. We as Americans should, however, be able to agree on one thing: We are bankrupt. Our country has no money.

It didn’t take long, but I am seeing all the Donald Trump haters coming out and saying that we supporters were suckered in once again by his overpromising and hyperbole. We all know who he is. It doesn’t matter. It’s not what he is going to do. It’s what we are no longer doing. We are no longer doing stupid things. We are no longer opening up our borders to millions of illegal migrants. We are no longer hiring people based on DEI criteria and instead are hiring based on who is best qualified.

I think logic is finally overcoming illogic in our country’s politics. I think the vast majority of Americans are now in favor of closing our border to illegal immigration. I think most people now realize that a 30-foot wall with drones flying around stops most people from coming into our country whereby an imaginary line does not. Hiring the best and brightest for every job regardless of ethnicity or how you identify yourself is logical. Hiring the less-bright candidate makes no sense.

During the past election, we heard day after grueling day from many of the Democratic candidates currently in office how they are the most bipartisan politicians in Washington. Obviously, they were lying. Unfortunately, most people had no way of knowing this. Nevadans have made clear that we wish to give Donald Trump a chance to turn around our economy and country after the disastrous past four years under Democratic control.

I see that there are a number of leaders from “sanctuary cities,” such as Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, who will protest against the deportation of migrants who have entered our country illegally. He and many others vow to do whatever they can to make it difficult for immigration enforcement agencies to do their jobs. My suggestion regarding these folks would be to let them have what they wish for. Do not go after any illegal immigrants in their jurisdictions.

Your Nov. 11 editorial regarding the inflated grades given to many local teachers who are obviously failing was excellent. When you take away the objectivity of the teacher evaluation process and make it subjective, it makes it very hard for the evaluator to give an accurate evaluation. The supervisors conducting the evaluations are usually intimidated by the one being evaluated.

OK all you California emigres, you are up. You have moved to Nevada in order to take advantage of your new state’s low taxes, less homelessness, better home values and lower gasoline and grocery prices. No doubt you are happy with your decision. Now it is time to make another decision: Do you wish for your new state to look like the state you just fled or to remain the state to which you decided to relocate?

I listened to Kamala Harris deliver her list of what she will do on day one to solve every problem known to mankind. She and Joe Biden have been in power for the past 3½ years. Many of the problems are of their own making. High inflation, border insecurity, high energy prices, etc. What I struggle with is why she proposes to spend more than $1 trillion of our money when she and Mr. Biden just spent $5.5 trillion of our money these past 3½ years.
