By Kent Youngblood The Lynx roster came a bit more clearly into focus with the news that backup center Dorka Juhász will not play for the team this season. The 6-5, 25-year-old from Hungary will remain in Europe this season to deal with personal issues, the team announced Sunday. The Lynx remain relatively deep in the post behind starting center Alanna Smith. The team signed 30-year-old French player Marieme Badiane and have welcomed back Jessica Shepard after a year off of her own.

By Kent Youngblood Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve liked the fact her team was trailing Chicago by two points with just under four minutes left to play in the preseason. But Napheesa Collier, Alanna Smith and Bridget Carleton have taken such different paths to get here. "We compare stories," Smith said. The Lynx will open the regular season Friday at Dallas. They won 30 games last season, finished with the No. 2 seed, made it to the WNBA Finals. This year, with so many players back, they have a chip on their shoulders, a chair and a chance. "It's interesting to hear about the different paths and journeys with different coaches and experiences," Smith said.

"We would only have hit one three-pointer without you." The final score in an opening preseason game doesn't really matter. Though, to be sure, Reeve wasn't thrilled with the play of the starting unit, particularly in the first half as the Lynx dug a 13-point hole.

A year ago, the Lynx opened the 2024 preseason against Chicago at Target Center. If you weren't in the crowd, you couldn't watch it. No streaming, no local TV, no national TV for a game that featured promising teams with three of the top eight picks in the WNBA draft. So Alli Schneider, a local Lynx season-ticket holder, streamed the game on her X account. As many as 200,000 watched it live. In the ensuing days, the post was viewed more than 2.5 million times. Finally, the league got it.
