Millville’s Evans Park has become a popular location for community events, from concerts to Easter egg hunts, and town officials are looking down the road to decide how best to use the land — and how much parking is needed to serve both the day-to-day uses and special events. On the recommendation of its Ad Hoc Park Plan Committee, the Millville Town Council voted this week to move forward with a plan to add more parking, but not as much as one of the proposed plans would have added.

Frankford’s next large housing development project moved a step forward recently as the Frankford Town Council approved the rezoning of the 114-acre “Lynch Farm” property. Following a public hearing on the rezoning request from residential to residential-planned-community (RPC), the council voted unanimously to approve it, setting the stage for development of the second large parcel annexed into town limits in the past two years.

From their posts at Mason-Dixon VFW Post 7234’s Chicken Shack, a hardy band of volunteers worked their magic on racks of chicken halves this weekend as passersby honked in appreciation of the sure sign that the summer season is here. The Chicken Shack reopened Saturday, May 17, for the season — once again taking up its position at the front of the Delaware National Guard facility on Coastal Highway at the northern entrance to Bethany Beach.

Fenwick Island’s Charter & Ordinance Committee this week considered moves addressing business parking and potential election changes. The committee opted to forward a recommendation to the Fenwick Island Town Council for consideration at its Friday, May 23, meeting that would allow businesses to work with each other to solve issues regarding employee parking.
