Pre-diabetes is a global health concern, with nearly 500 million adults estimated to have impaired glucose tolerance and nearly 300 million with impaired fasting glucose. Diabetes prevention programmes lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by nearly 50%. This review identified key enablers and barriers that influence acceptability of and engagement in diabetes prevention programmes for people with pre-diabetes.

Although not currently recognised by the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 (DSM-5-TR) [1], addictive eating can be characterised by a distinct pattern of persistent, recurrent, often excessive, compulsive, and uncontrolled food consumption [2,3].

RESEARCH ARTICLE The authors recognise and hold the tension that the complex and rich identities of First Nations people cannot be appropriately represented by simplified English terminology. The authors have respectfully used the term Aboriginal to refer to First Nations Peoples from the mainland (including Tasmania) of Australia, and the local community where this research was situated, as this is the term that the community identify with.
