The Padres did not do much on offense Wednesday. But their new-look lineup — their second shook-up batting order in four games — had the right guy up at the right time. And they had the right guy on the mound. Luis Arraez, batting leadoff for the first time since April 9, grounded a single through the left side of the infield in the second inning to drive in the game’s only run in a 1-0 victory over the Nationals.

Good morning,It doesn’t matter how it happened. The Padres have an opportunity win a series today because they found a way to win last night. Or maybe because a way to win found them. You can read in my game story (here) how the Padres came back from a three-run deficit and how a decision by Nationals first baseman Nathaniel Lowe to not get a force out at home facilitated the deciding run in the sixth inning. Yes, the Padres’ four back-end relievers closed out the game with six scoreless innings.
