In 1979, I joined a bunch of high school buddies home on college break to take in a Celtics game. It was no problem getting tickets because, at the time, the Celtics stunk. The crowd was sparse, the Garden cavernous. So we snuck down to the loge section, within earshot of the Celtics bench. Marvin Barnes, a Providence College star with a checkered professional career, had joined the Celtics that season.
