The Flyers entered the offseason with four restricted free agents. At the top of the list was Tyson Foerster, whose late-season surge helped him to a 25-goal season in his second NHL campaign. The 23-year-old forward has a new deal. The Flyers and Foerster have reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with a $3.75 million AAV on Thursday, according to Daily Faceoff's Anthony DiMarco and Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Foerster played in 81 games in the 2024-25 season, scoring 25 goals and 43 points.

But on May 27, 1975, it was the day the Flyers successfully completed their title defense. The Flyers return to the Stanley Cup Final in 1975 featured two very different series. The changes keep coming for the Flyers. Just one week after announcing that Rick Tocchet would become the next head coach of the team, the changes were being made at the minor-league level. Ian Laperriere will not be returning behind the bench for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, according to a report from Anthony SanFilippo of On Pattison. Laperriere, 51, has not been fired by the Flyers, and could remain in the organization in another role.

At the opening of Friday’s introductory press conference of Rick Tocchet as the next head coach, Flyers GM Danny Briere made clear that the plan to rebuild remains. “The one thing I want to make clear is the fact that the plan doesn’t change here,” Briere said. “Rick has been part of this before.
