He will begin work Monday, August 12, and sit on the bench until September 30. (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge judge must decide whether now is the time to hear arguments to dismiss rapper NBA YoungBoy’s federal gun case or if she should wait for additional rulings from higher courts before she has enough information to move forward. Prosecutors filed briefs arguing that a ruling released earlier this summer by the U.S. Supreme court provides enough of an explanation on how to apply federal gun laws to the recording artist’s case.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The man accused of beating a bystander who was attempting to break up a fight near a Baton Rouge nightclub has been sentenced to 7 years in prison, according to court records. Edmond Revelle entered a guilty plea to manslaughter in May of 2024 for the 2022 death of Hayes Sellers. Judge Eboni Johnson Rose sentenced him Tuesday August 6, to 7 years with credit for time served.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A man accused of robbing a bank, then leading police on a chase has entered a guilty plea on Thursday, August 1. Jonathan Lanaute, who attempted to switch his plea in a federal bank robbery case suffered a medical episode while in a Baton Rouge courtroom Thursday, July 25. Chief Judge Shelly Dick and her courtroom staff jumped into action to help Jonathan Lanaute after the man fell to the floor while shackled.
