Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images The Miami Dolphins began their rookie minicamp yesterday but right before it began, it was announced the team had signed all of their 2025 rookie class besides second round pick, Jonah Savaiinaea. The team had to make some releases ahead of time with the biggest name being long snapper, Blake Ferguson. At least there will be some football to talk about for the time being with the rookies all together.

The Dolphins mainly need to address their cornerback situation as they will be without their two starting corners from last season in Jalen Ramsey and Kendall Fuller. Rasul Douglas is a name that has been linked to Miami and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him added to the roster sometime soon.

They brought back Joe Flacco but from the sounds of it, he may be the odd man out after they drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. It will be an interesting competition to keep an eye on this preseason.

He can’t stay on the field and the Miami Dolphins have suffered when he is not out there. Which is why improving the backup situation was a high priority this offseason. Will it work out? Apparently the relationship between Ramsey and Mike McDaniel has soured and the best course of action is for the Dolphins to trade Ramsey. He should have plenty of suitors with a former team of his near the top of the list. A reunion with Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams may be on the horizon.

The New England Patriots sat at 38 and if the reports are true, they were very interested in selecting him. If that is all true, the Dolphins made the right choice to trade up for Savaiinaea, because he wasn’t going to make it to the teams original pick at 48. The Dolphins wanted him and they went and got him.

Yes, it’s easy to look back and say a team should have drafted player ‘x’ over player ‘y’ now that we know how the draft played out. But the biggest story line through all three days was quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Once mocked as a top three select, the Colorado QB ended up being selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round.

They didn’t draft one till the fifth round when the selected Jason Marshall, who is viewed as a developmental prospect. With Jalen Ramsey expected to be traded at some point, the Dolphins need to add a veteran to start. One name they have looked into is Rasul Douglas, who was most recently with the Buffalo Bills.
