    A charity hockey game between Barrie police and city firefighters was cut short Tuesday night after a medical emergency involving one of the players during the game at Sadlon Arena. “A member of the Barrie Police Service team experienced a medical emergency while in the penalty box,” police said in a statement posted to social media this morning. The officer is “stable and recovering” in hospital, police say.

    Barrie police recently arrested four adults after a foot pursuit by officers in the city’s downtown, laying numerous drug and alcohol charges. On April 1, police say two men and two women fled from a car near Bayfield Street and Dunlop Street East, but were quickly arrested by responding officers. Police said a female passenger was released unconditionally, while the other occupants were transported to police headquarters on Fairview Road for further investigation.

    City police are investigating after a two-vehicle crash injured three people, including a child, in the north end of Barrie on Sunday afternoon. Officers received the call at 1:45 p.m. and responded to the scene at Livingstone and Bayfield streets. “One child and at least two adults (were) transported to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.
