    The remains of 1st Lt. William Hott, a soldier killed in action during the Korean War, will be returned to his hometown in Holmes County. Hott was reported killed in action on December 1, 1950, at the East Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. His remains were among those returned to the United States in 2018 after being held by North Korea. Hott's identification marks the 100th made from the 55 boxes of Korean War remains received in 2018.

    The remains of First Lt. William Harold Hott, a native of Holmesville have been identified and accounted for 75 years after he went missing in action in North Korea. Hott was declared dead in 1951 after witnesses reported he was killed in action, but his remains were not recovered until North Korea returned 55 boxes of remains in 2018. New DNA testing methods were used to identify Hott's remains.
