    Wyoming County Commissioners approved a disaster emergency declaration for three county municipalities after a recent heavy rain/flooding event damaged and washed out roads. At a commissioners meeting on Tuesday morning (June 17), commissioners signed the declaration — retroactive to June 7 — for damages in Falls Twp., Exeter Twp., and Northmoreland Twp., sustained during a heavy rain event which washed out some areas of road, and caused some flooding.

Lackawanna County, in partnership with the Lackawanna County Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Bill Howerton Strike Out Cancer Initiative, and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders announced the return of the Field of Dreams Game – a baseball all-star game for graduating high school seniors from the Lackawanna League.

Lawrence was selected as a member of Team Purple for the Lackawanna County Field of Dreams Softball All-Star Game. The game will take place on Sunday, June 22 at 6 p.m. at theUniversity of Scranton’s Magis Field and feature teams broken up according to long-time Lackawanna League rivalries and don the colors of the game’s host.

    Elk Lake junior Kendel Jones was named the Lackawanna Track Conference Division III/IV track performer of the year by the league’s coaches. He continued to cement himself as one of the top track & field performers in the state of Pennsylvania and in school history. He won the District 2 Class 2A Championship in the 3,200 with a time of 9:27.16, and placed sixth in the event at the PIAA Track & Field Championships at Shippensburg University with a time of 9:18.72.
