Tunkhannock Area High School girl’s lacrosse player, Madelyn Bevan, competed in the USA Lacrosse 2025 Women’s National Tournament held at the University of Massachusetts overMemorial Day weekend. Bevan tried out for and was selected to play on Team Philly in this tournament that saw teams represented from all regions of the country. Their competitionincluded teams from Maine, Florida, Massachusetts/Rhode Island and Central Pennsylvania.

Gianna Tewksbury started her track and field journey with a canceled season and ended her high school career on the medal stand at the biggest meet of her career. Just as the Elk Lake senior stepped onto the platform, a steady rain started to fall, but it couldn’t dampen her spirits when the official draped a medal around her neck. Tewksbury launched the discus 123-5 to finish fourth in the girls Class 2A competition on a chilly Friday morning at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium.

The Warriors pitching staff walked 11 men and hit three batters, and its offense left eight men on base as No. 3 Old Forge was able to come away with a 7-5 victory over No. 2 Elk Lake on Tuesday, May 27 in the district semifinals at Elk Lake.

Keystone College officially merged with a nonprofit aimed at boosting higher education, a move officials at the financially struggling institution touted as a positive development. College officials announced Monday the merger transaction with the Washington Institute for Education and Research, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit formed to further and support higher education. The merger was completed Friday afternoon, officials said in a news release issued Monday.
