A handgun was seen lying on the side of the road in downtown Mission on Friday (June 6) morning. An eagle-eyed driver spotted the weapon as they drove along First Avenue at approximately 8:30 a.m. The driver, who could not tell whether the gun was real or fake, pulled over and called the Mission RCMP. When police arrived, it was determined to be a “realistic looking” BB gun. The officer took the gun and morning traffic returned to normal.

Home Community The event has continued to grow each year Hatzic Middle School hosted its third annual powwow on Friday (May 30). The event, which has grown each year, featured two sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. This year’s event included students from other schools as well as elders from the community. Dancing, drumming and other activities took place during the day.

B.C. Seniors Week runs from June 1-7 and the Mission Seniors Centre Association will be hosting its annual Older Adult Wellness Fair as part of the celebration. The event takes place on June 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boswyk Seniors Activity Centre, located at 7682 Grand St. in Mission. “The adult wellness fair is our main event,” said Gordon Dainard, treasurer of the Mission Seniors Centre Association.
