Winning a national championship in college football is difficult very difficult. Winning them consecutively has been impossible for Ohio State, coming off the heels of the previous nine (this includes 2024-25) claimed national titles. Ohio State has come close some seasons and has been a million miles away other seasons. Greats like Paul Brown, Woody Hayes, Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer have all come up short, for one reason or another.

With the college football season less than 100 days away, it is time to really start putting attention into the schedule of your favorite team and of the teams that may not rate as high when it comes to your rooting interests. Last week we looked at the worst of the worst in the Big Ten, the non-conference games you don’t want to watch. Go to a wedding, get a final round of yardwork in, hell… go to the proctologist. All of these will be better uses of your time than watching any of those games.

The expanded Big Ten put in its claim of being the top football conference in the nation last season with the eventual national champion coming from its 18-team pool along with three other member schools one going to the national semifinals. There is a reality however, for every Ohio State versus Oregon regular season game, there is going to be a Minnesota vs. Duluth Technical College game to poison everyone’s eyes.

TAMPA – Southern Swing has gone through the state of Florida and there still is no shortage of recruiting action for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Sunshine State. Honestly, we could have spent two weeks in the state and still not gotten out to see everyone that we needed to see, but our travels took us through Jacksonville, Vero Beach, South Florida and the greater Tampa area. Of course, Ohio State won’t land every player that it goes after in the state, nobody can do that.

ATLANTA – Southern Swing has made its way through the state of Georgia and while there was no way that we could see every player that the Buckeyes are after the in the Peach State, we saw a couple of the big names. The biggest news was from Tyler Atkinson, who named the Buckeyes his leader. Ohio State recruiting fans have known this name for a long time as Ohio State offered him going into his freshman year of high school and the interest has not faded one bit.

Bring this tradition back, right now! https://t.co/NDmfUrgXxC

Just bet America in the Stanley Cup Finals. Don't bite the poutine.

ESPN really should make sure it trains its forward facing personalities that it is Big Ten and not Big 10. It almost seems as if misidentification is an intentional dig.
