    The BGC Stettler-Heartland Youth Centre's (HYC) biggest fundraiser of the year, the Awesome Auction, is done for another year. With the theme of "boots and bling," the annual steak and lobster dinner and auction took place on June 7 at the Stettler Community Hall. "It went good," said HYC Executive Director Winnie Bissett.

    Stettler County council approved the latest round of funding for its Community Investment Program during the June 11 meeting. Six applications totalling $6,800 were received for the application window closing at the end of May. According to Lorraine Hankins, the county's manager of recreation and insurance, three of the applications were new for the investment stream and three were for the annual support stream.

    The 572 Coyotes Royal Air Cadet Squadron based in Stettler held its annual cadet revue at the Stettler Legion on June 14. An opportunity to celebrate the year's accomplishments, the revue is an opportunity for the public to see what the cadets have been working on for the past year and support them as they are presented the year's awards. The ceremony began with cadets marching past Legion President Ray Cerniuk and demonstrating drill procedures.

    The 2025 edition of Bashaw's Buffalo Lake Stampede is in the books. Buffalo Lake Stampede is an Alberta Professional Chuckwagon and Chariot Association-sanctioned event which ran from June 12-15. June 12 kicked off the event with a 200-person long-table supper held at the agricultural grounds. On June 13, the event began in earnest with a farmers' market running from 4-7 p.m. and racing beginning at 6 p.m. The evening concluded at 9 p.m. with a cabaret.

    Gravel roads dominated the discussion during the June 11 Stettler County council meeting. During the meeting, a county resident appeared before council to talk about dust control, and about paying for a product he feels he didn't receive, or didn't work, in 2024. The ratepayer noted that he had paid for an oil-emulsion type product for dust control, yet within two weeks the surface of the road had turned a light grey and was beginning to develop dust again.
