WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — West Palm Beach police are investigating after a man was shot Sunday evening. Police spokesperson Mike Jachles said officers at a nearby fall festival responded to the 1600 block of North Australian Avenue. The fall festival was a trunk or treat event at Gaines Park Community Center. Police said fire rescue crews took the man to St. Mary's Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — According to an email obtained by WPTV, Assistant City Manager Deirdre Jacobs is taking over the responsibilities of Riviera Beach’s City Manager’s Office until to Evans returns to his position. Jacobs says she will perform the “lead administrative and operational responsibilities” required by the City Manager’s Office. Jacobs was never promoted or appointed to this position by the council.

Within the next year, passengers should be able to board a commercial airline from the Treasure Coast International Airport out of Fort Pierce. On Wednesday, St. Lucie County Commission Chairwoman Cathy Townsend told WPTV the county is just weeks away from getting its Part 139 certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. It was an emotional evening for loved ones who held for a vigil to rememeber the life of a mother and daughter from Boynton Beach. Marcia Pochette and Jenice Woods were killed last Tuesday after being struck by a speeding vehicle near the Meadows of Boynton Beach neighborhood. “It’s my first time seeing a family member in a crash, so for me to experience it as a brother, it was very emotional,” stated family friend Brenton McKinney.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies were investigating a shooting Saturday night at the Casa Del Monte mobile home park. Sheriff's spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. at the mobile home park at the corner of Forest Hill Boulevard and Jog Road. Barbera said deputies arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound or wounds. He was taken to an area hospital to be treated. Violent crimes detectives were investigating.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fl. — Jermya Adams said she's trained as a certified nursing assistant to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, commonly called CPR. She can't believe she used those skills for the first time on a child Wednesday at Fairway Vista Apartments, which she moved to about a month ago. West Palm Beach police credit a bystander performing CPR as part of the reason a toddler, who was found unresponsive in a lake on Wednesday, has brain activity.
