When Dan Hottmann suggested to his oldest son that he use a family outing Sunday at TPC Wisconsin in Madison to get ready for this week's Mike Schnarr Boys Championship and play from a set of tees closer to the 6,175 yards he'd be playing at Blackhawk Country Club, the short-but-tight layout across town, Lincoln Hottmann turned the suggestion into a rousing success by shooting 12-under-par 59 from the 6,142-yard III tees at the TPC course.

The Sabers figured to have their hands full during the upcoming WIAA Division 1 postseason in the same regional and sectional as Greater Metro Conference champion Marquette (Milwaukee), but they served notice Thursday that they have the potential to handle it. Senior Parker Fraser (68) and freshman Caleb Peterson (73) finished 1-2 as Franklin fired a school-record 298 and won the Southeast Conference title for the third year in a row by 20 strokes over Oak Creek.
