Lewis once said, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” About 60% of young adults will make New Year resolutions this year, hoping new goals will lead to self-improvement. Since we never grow spiritually by accident, here are 4 prayer goals to pursue in the new year. There are innumerable resources on “how” to pray – a teaching which is desperately needed.

    Do you need a breakthrough to something new? Consider prayer and fasting as the key to your breakthrough. What is fasting? In the Greek New Testament, the word for fasting literally means “no eat.” In the Hebrew Old Testament, the word translated “fasting” is literally “shut mouth!” Obviously, true biblical fasting involves the voluntary refusal to eat food for a specific period of time in order to more intensively pray and seek God. You may have many reasons for fasting.

    Most Americans pray, and many pray every day; but what do we pray about? Not surprisingly, according to Lifeway Research, 74% of Americans pray for their own needs and difficulties. Predictably, most people pray for their own problems since troubles and challenges are common to everyone. In fact, our problems are not substantially different than those shared by our neighbors.
