Police have descended on a property in North Shields in connection with an ongoing investigation. ChronicleLive understands police were called to a flat on Wallsend Road on Friday night with officers spotted at the scene. Police remained on the North Shields street on Saturday morning with two cars and a van parked outside the premises. Crime scene investigators wearing blue suits were seen walking out of the property carrying a brown evidence bag.

Police have launched an urgent appeal to trace missing 62-year-old woman Vivienne Quinn. Officers are increasingly concerned for Vivienne's welfare after he disappeared at around 10.15am on Monday, March 24. She was last seen in the Walker Road area of Walker, where she is understood to have boarded the number 12 Stagecoach bus which was heading towards Newcastle city centre. However, she has not been seen since and her family are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

A swirling blue light has been spotted in the sky tonight which has had people mesmerised across the North East. A blue and white spiral has been seen by people which has left many puzzled as to what could have caused it. Among those to have spotted the obscure light were in Gateshead and Northumberland. James Bell said he spotted the "strange" light in Morpeth at around 8pm. He said: "It was travelling from west to east. I'd never seen anything like it before.
