A large section of the Maury Meyers Bridge has been removed

It's been just under a week since the Texas Department of Transportation demolition of the Maury Meyers Bridge project began, and crews seem to be making up for lost time after an issue with equipment slightly delayed the start. A large section of the bridge from Liberty and 14th streets to the eastbound Interstate 10 access road is down, with crews removing large piles of concrete and rebar from the site.

For those who’ve been craving homemade falafel, kebobs, gyros, spinokopita and more, one of Beaumont’s favorite summer festivals is back this year – the Mediterranean Festival held at St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church. This will be the 14th year the festival has been held at the church, although it’s the 12th event due to a COVID-related cancellation in 2020 and the decision not to hold the festival in 2024.
