    By Mary Stroka and Kim Dean — NLJ Reporter, NLJ Managing Editor Residents will likely see more red, white and blue next month because Newcastle’s Monroe-Bland Post 3 is hosting this year’s Wyoming American Legion convention for the first time. The convention runs from June 19 to 21. Members will begin arriving Thursday evening, and most events will happen on Friday and Saturday.

    By Kim Dean, NLJ Managing Editor In a few weeks, the Weston County Hospital District will be asking Weston County voters to renew an additional three mill levy that has been in place for the past four years. It is up for renewal this year on the general election ballot, and is used to support the operation of Weston County Health Services, which includes Weston County Manor and Weston County Home Health in addition to the hospital and clinics in Upton and Newcastle.

    By Kim Dean I’ve always loved to read. While in school, my favorite subjects were English, reading, and history. I never grew up wanting a career in the newspaper industry, but the fact that I have one is actually a good fit with my likes and interests. While it is a part of my job every week to read each page of this newspaper before you see it, it is a labor I love. Reading is knowledge, which is why I have also tried to pass along my literary love to my children and grandchildren.
