Photo by Ryan Kelapire If No. 14 Texas Tech is going to advance far in the postseason, it will be on the arm of star pitcher NiJaree Canady. She proved she could handle that by pitching 17 of 18 innings in three games against No. 12 Arizona and lifting her team to a 2-1 series win. Canady pitched a complete game in a loss on opening night. In game two, she took over in the second inning with her team leading 4-0. She returned on Saturday to finish it off with a 5-2 defeat of the Wildcats.

Chris Jones-Imagn Images The news keeps coming for Arizona women’s basketball. New head coach Becky Burke got a late start compared to most of her competitors around the country, but she’s making up for lost time. Arizona picked up its second public commitment from a post player and officially announced the hiring of former Wildcat Julie Hairgrove as an assistant coach on Friday. The second commit of the day came from former New Orleans center Nora Francois.

Photo courtesy of Arizona Athletics It was almost like a game of chicken. Neither Arizona head coach Caitlin Lowe nor Texas Tech head coach Gerry Glasco sent their team’s ace into the circle to start the game. When the No. 14 Red Raiders jumped on No. 12 Arizona’s starting pitcher out of the gate, Glasco fell back on his ace. It worked perfectly. The Wildcats playing their worst game of the season didn’t hurt, either. “We played bad softball all around,” Lowe said.

Photo by Frank Jansky/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images New Arizona women’s basketball head coach Becky Burke has added a number of promising guards to her roster via the transfer portal. She now has a forward to her name with the commitment of former Kansas post player Freddie Wallace. Wallace announced her commitment to Arizona on Friday morning. Wallace is the second player to transfer to Arizona from another Power 4 school. She and guard Kamryn Kitchen have another thing in common.

#2: If you are working with an agent or someone who will be making $$ off of helping you, do your research. College coaches are getting insane $$ requests from agents - in some cases bc agents want to make “X” amount - not the kids. If you sign a contract, you will be stuck.
