There is nothing better than a great beach read, especially when the setting of the story is local. I have been devouring novels by author Elin Hilderbrand for years and can never get enough of her scandalous tales of life on the island of Nantucket. Needless to say, when one of my favorite Hilderbrand books, The Perfect Couple, was turned into a Netflix minidrama, I was ecstatic.

I recently returned from a two-day trip to Philadelphia. I had an absolute blast exploring the city and seeing the sights. This was my first trip to the city of Brotherly Love, and I quickly discovered that although we packed a ton of activities into our trip, 48 hours in Philly was only enough time to make a dent in all that the city has to offer. I can’t wait to explore some more of the sights, and am eagerly planning a return.

Each park is focused on an event, place, person, natural wonder, or era, in their totality, they represent what the United States is and what being American means. The more NPS sites I visit, whether they fill me with pride, sadness, or regret, the more American I feel. Travel enthusiasts are an interesting and often eccentric group of people. We share a passion for adventure and relish a good story.

Considering camping? While I can’t say that I’m a first-time camper, I have to admit that it has been several years since I pitched a tent in the woods. When it comes to the great outdoors, we are more of a cozy cabin (with indoor plumbing) type of family. However, I do have many fond memories of tent and A-frame camping with friends from my younger years, and I would not be opposed to giving it another go.

I love a good road trip, and will forever say yes to a getaway in Vermont. The gorgeous mountain landscape, endless outdoor activities, and delicious regional cuisine make this quintessential New England region one of my all-time favorite destinations. Vermont may be one of the smallest states in our country, but it is packed with hidden gems to discover at every turn, including an amazing little rest stop on Interstate 89. Let me introduce you to the Sharon Welcome Center.

When it comes to the world of AI, I have to admit that I am a skeptic. Having a “robot” organize my thoughts and manage my daily tasks just seems so foreign to me. And as a writer, I also worry that artificial intelligence will soon take over an industry that I dearly love. So, up until recently, I have been avoiding using AI as much as possible. However, my curiosity is growing and perhaps getting the better of me. With travel as my specialty, I’m wondering how AI stacks up for vacation planning.

I love to grow my own fresh produce, and every year I plant a little container garden full of my favorite fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Over the past few summers, I have also attempted to grow strawberries. Perhaps the word “grow” is an overstatement. What I actually do is buy a few mature plants from my local gardening store and hang them in baskets on my porch. While some years produce a bigger crop than others, I have found that there are never enough strawberries to go around.

I remember my first attempt at fishing. I was about five or six years old when my father brought me down to our neighborhood park to try out my new plastic fishing rod. We spent a special afternoon together dropping a child-safe hook filled with a leftover peanut butter and jelly sandwich into the waters of our local pond. Needless to say, we didn’t catch much that day. But those who fish for recreation understand that the experience is not all about the catch.
