The Resties recognizes the best rest areas, travel plazas, roadside attractions, motels/hotels, and welcome centers across the nation that are as much a destination as they are a pit stop. From scenic flower-filled fields that make you feel like you're not on the side of a bustling highway to delicious bites that’ll have you questioning if this really came from a travel plaza and not a gourmet kitchen, we’re honoring the best of roadside America right as the summer driving season kicks off.

After a long day of outdoor adventures, check into this beautiful farmhouse near Pilot Mountain State Park and relax in style.

Stargazing is one of the most simple yet magical ways to spend an evening. We can look up at the sky and see the same constellations that people in ancient civilizations saw, like Ursa Major, Canis Major, Cassiopeia, and many more. Evidence suggests that people 32,000 years ago enjoyed the popular constellation Orion—incredible! Stargazing combines three of my loves: history, science, and nature. We've found an awesome Airbnb in Rogers, Kentucky, ideal for stargazing.

This week was spring break and Tony McCosham had seen me having so much fun on my adventures with the kids that he decided he wanted in. He planned an elaborate but brilliant road trip to Cleveland and Niagara Falls for the end of the week. Not only did this sound like a good time, but this trip gave me an entire three days all to myself. All to myself. It was the greatest gift of all; major props and points to Tony McCosham.
