March Break isn’t off to the best start for Pat Blanchette and his family travelling out of Ottawa International Airport (YOW). Their flight to Florida was canceled this morning, but they’ve managed to get onto another flight. The family booked their trip a year ago before the start of the trade war with the United States and say they may have chosen a different destination if they were booking another trip for next year. “You know, I’d put in new considerations for sure,” said Blanchette.

Not all heroes wear capes, some of them carry shovels. “It’s almost like getting a community medal or something,” said Orleans resident Daniel Lamothe. “It’s an acknowledgement of the time taken.” After record-breaking snow fall in Ottawa this winter, Lamothe has continuously cleared snow from around the fire hydrant located on his front lawn. After nearly a year and a half, the Alexandra Bridge officially reopened Tuesday afternoon, a day earlier than expected. “I am happy, very very happy,” said a cab driver who just drove across the bridge from Gatineau to Ottawa. “I drive (my customers) to go straight here. I don’t need to go to the MacDonald Cartier. It’s a very nice bridge.”The Alexandra Bridge was closed to vehicle traffic in October 2023 for repairs and rehabilitation.
