The newest class of certified nursing assistants in The New Jewish Home’s registered apprenticeship program graduated earlier this week in a move to begin addressing 13,000 unfilled such positions statewide. The New York City-based nonprofit healthcare system, which includes independent living, assisted living and other offerings along the long-term care continuum, secured a share of $2 million in city funding to launch the program, known as SkillSpring.

Participants in a recent study reacted in various ways when they learned about their risk for Alzheimer’s disease, leading researchers to underscore the importance of how such news is delivered — and whether it should be delivered at all. A study, the results of which were published in the journal Alzheimer’s & Dementia, followed 199 healthy adults who underwent amyloid positron emission tomography, or PET, scans to check for the presence of amyloid beta in their brains.

The search for a new CEO for Brookdale Senior Living is “well underway” but could take at least six months, Board Chair and interim CEO Denise Warren said Wednesday on the Tennessee-based company’s first-quarter earnings call. Brookdale entered into a separation agreement with former President and CEO Lucinda “Cindy” Baier last month. She had been in those roles since 2018 after joining the company as chief financial officer in 2015.
