    U.S. Border Patrol agents intercepted two drug smuggling attempts and confiscated narcotics worth nearly $800,000 last week in San Clemente. The agents seized around 140 pounds of drugs within 24 hours from the San Diego station. Border agents arrested a driver on March 17 at 2:52 p.m. after they found 29 packages of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine in the driver’s vehicle during a search at a Border Patrol station.

    California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a consumer alert Wednesday urging residents to see if they are eligible for free or low-cost tax filing options amid tax season.
