    Layton Clenton, of Tennyson Road, Wolverhampton, was on the wrong side of the A449 Stafford Road, Wolverhampton, when he hit the women's Ford Fiesta on September 30. The 19-year-old had stolen the Range Rover from the car park at IKEA in Wednesbury earlier in the evening and then failed to stop for police when he was spotted on the outskirts of Wolverhampton. He was seen driving at over 70mph on 40mph roads, and went through at least one red light as he tried to evade officers.

    James Hollingsworth, from Pinkney Place, Oldbury, was arrested shortly after the woman came forward. The 29-year-old was subsequently charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour. Despite denying the offences, Hollingsworth was convicted following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court, and sentenced to 16 years in prison on Friday (May 23). He has also been put on the sex offenders register for life and was given a restraining order.

    Animal rescue charity RSPCA have launched an appeal after a dog was found abandoned in a shoebox outside of someone's West Midlands home. The animal was rushed to the vets but sadly died through the night due to being in such poor condition.

    An 'extensive' hydraulic fluid  spillage in Staffordshire led to the closure of the southbound A449 Stafford Road between the A5 at Gailey and the M54 at Coven Heath, with delays of up to 20 minutes being reported. The incident was first reported by National Highways West Midlands at around 12.15pm on Wednesday (May 21), with the entirety of the southbound stretch closed due to the incident and traffic being diverted away.
