In a nearly one-and-a-half-minute-long video, the men are seen racing to save the woman after she jumped. They run a few hundred meters on the banks and jump in. One of the policemen is seen swimming to the drowning woman. Later, his colleague helps in the rescue.

A 19-year-old student of IIT-Roorkee was found dead in the institute's hostel on Wednesday, police said, adding that they suspect it to be a case of suicide. The body of the student, who hailed from Nagaur district in Rajasthan, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his room at Jawahar Bhawan, one of the men's hostels of the institute. The student was pursuing a BS-MS (Mathematics and Computing) Program at the institute, and was in his fifth semester.

New Delhi: The Committee formulating rules for the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand has finished its discussions and will submit its suggestions in the form of a booklet to the Chief Minister. If accepted, Uniform Civil Code could be in place in the state before November 9. The Uttarakhand Assembly had passed the Uniform Civil Code Bill in February. On March 13, the bill was signed off by President Droupadi Murmu, making it possible for the state to become the first in the country to implement it.

Over 100 roads have been blocked after heavy rain battered Uttarakhand over the last few days. A red alert has been issued in the hil state and major rivers are flowing over the danger mark. Uttarakhand Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain across several districts of the state including Champawat, Almora, Pithoragarh, Udhamsingh Nagar and much of the Kumaon region. An orange alert has been issued for Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, and Haridwar.
