    The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears junior varsity boys soccer team played against the Ketchikan varsity on the road Tuesday and Wednesday at Esther Shea Field. JDHS fell 4-1 on Tuesday. Crimson Bears sophomore defender Ibrahima Diouf scored on a 40-yard free kick for their lone goal. The Crimson Bears let in two own goals during the contest and were outshot almost 20-1 according to JDHS travel coach Tim Harrison.

    History was made as the Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé softball team opened their first official home Railbelt Conference games on Wednesday, the first on the new Adair Kennedy Park field, and sophomore Brynn Wheeler recorded the first Crimson Bears hit, freshman pinch-runner Kiki Gallettes-Swafford scored the first run, junior Alayna Echiverri recorded the first RBI and junior Gwen Nizich put all those firsts together as she put the first true home run over the center field fence.

    High school basketball seniors from around Alaska attended the 2025 Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches All-Star events over the weekend at Anchorage’s Grace Christian High School. The AABC promotes the sport, its coaches, players and officials through the event. This was the 16th annual all-star gathering — it was halted two years due to COVID-19 — and 92 players were chosen by the AABC selection committee for the 2025 games.

    The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears track team had a strong showing against the Kodiak Bears in the Bears Dual On The Rock meet at Kodiak over the weekend. Seniors Finley Hightower and Carter Harralston won the boys 100 meters in 11.52 and 12.05, respectively, and senior Johnathyn Kestel won the 200 in 24.19. JDHS freshman Bella Connally won the girls 100 in 12.83 and the 200 in 26.83.

    The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears softball team finished their season-opening tournament on Sitka’s Moller Field with a combined 3-3-1 record over the weekend. JDHS, now in the Division I Railbelt Conference had opened the tournament on Thursday defeating new conference rival Wasilla 10-4 and losing to DI Cook Inlet Conference Chugiak 15-1. All tournament games were played under a 65-minute time limit.
