The Queensland Government has approved a Temporary Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) for the City of Moreton Bay, helping to safeguard critical future enterprise and employment land over part of the Narangba East Rural Residential Investigation Area. The TLPI will be in place for the next 12 months, effective from 18 June 2025 to 18 June 2026, and covers approximately 445 hectares of the investigation area, situated on the western side of the Bruce Highway.

The Queensland Government is working with a First Nations community housing provider to deliver 75 new social homes in the Moreton Bay area. Undertaken in partnership with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS), the project will deliver 53 one-bedroom and 22 two-bedroom units for Indigenous Queenslanders experiencing or at risk of homelessness, young people aged between 16-25 and those aged over 55 years.

Seventeen community groups are set to gain organisational and project support through a share in more than $88,000 from the Redland City council’s grant funding. Redland Mayor, Jos Mitchell, said that the funding was awarded through round 2 of Council’s 2024-2025 Community Grants program. “These grants support community projects and activities that benefit a wide cross section of the community, with many of the projects initiated and managed primarily by volunteers,” Mayor Mitchell said.
