    Last night, I was on-air with Wolf Blitzer discussing the election, and I started to say something along the lines of “well, Wolf, we know this election will be close.” I paused and immediately corrected myself. When the data show the race as a toss-up - as they very much do - it is easy to slip into characterizing uncertainty about who will win as certainty that the race will be close. I am not certain of who will win, and I am not certain that the race is close.
