Vernon Ling, lead investigator at the Hawaiian Humane Society. "As the dog still tries to get away, then a third time and then a fourth time.""That video is pretty horrific," he said.

HONOLULU, Hawaii (Island News) -- It's a last-ditch effort to urge lawmakers to pass an environmental stewardship fee, charging visitors to help protect Hawaii's natural resources -- something that's been debated for years. With the federal government cutting tens of millions of dollars to protect Hawaii's natural resources, the work of dozens of environmental groups is in jeopardy. "We have to keep our people safe from fires and floods and pollution," said Carissa Cabrera, a community organizer.

Thousands of people are leaving the islands because they can no longer afford life in paradise.. That includes my favorite chocolate dipper @onoberries 😭 Like many other kamaʻāina, she’s hoping to eventually make it back to her island home🌈 #hawaii #costofliving #paradise https://t.co/4fiIpmRL4r

Dec. 7, 1941 — Life in the islands was forever changed following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Many Hawaiians witnessed the bombing firsthand, including my 92-year-old grandfather, Solomon Niau. (We did this story together a year ago) #pearlharbor #worldwar2 #hawaiian https://t.co/rnSDHIeBRw
