The Y wants to ensure that water safety doesn’t get lost in the family's eagerness to jump into the summer. As temperatures rise, kids want to cool off, whether that is in home pools, ponds, lakes, rivers, streams or oceans. And that means the risk of drowning is as prevalent as ever. May is National Water Safety Month, and the Westfield Area and Cranford YMCAs are encouraging parents and caregivers to reinforce the importance of water safety skills with the whole family.

The Westfield Area YMCA is honored to receive a generous donation of $20,000 from the Westfield Area Y Men's Club. The majority of the funds will directly support the Y's Strong Kids+ Campaign, which provides financial assistance to individuals and families experiencing bona fide financial hardship in Cranford, Garwood, Mountainside or Westfield.

The Cranford YMCA recently marked a significant milestone — its first anniversary! Members and the community came together for a week of celebrations filled with giveaways, special events, free classes and more, all in honor of the facility’s first year of strengthening the community of Cranford and its surrounding towns. The Cranford YMCA opened its doors on Feb. 15, 2024, in a partnership between the Westfield Area YMCA and the Township of Cranford.
