    When I first came up with the design for my award-winning Tribe Bag, a lightweight versatile waterproof bag made of EVA foam (the same material as Croc shoes), my partner at the time scoffed and said it would never sell. However, my mums’ group had the polar opposite view. They were frustrated there was no bag on the market that was suitable for all the activities that busy mums face. I disregarded my partner’s feedback as irrelevant.

No bag on the market was suitable and equipped to cart around all the clothes, swimmers, towels, snacks, drink bottles and baby bags that mums need to juggle so she took matters into her own hands. Having spent her career in marketing and sales for a range of leading lifestyle brands, Krystal created the Tribe bag, a first of its kind tote made from EVA foam in a range of neutral colours.

    When you land on an amazing business idea, it’s easy to get carried away, romanticising the future and over-simplifying the path to get there — especially if you have no prior business experience. When I first came up with the idea for Kove and Co’s signature Tribe Bag in 2021, I naively thought it would be a relatively simple and straightforward process; sketch it, pick a colour, have it designed and manufactured, and watch the money roll in.
