Lando Norris shot himself in the foot by crashing into Oscar Piastri in the Canadian Grand Prix, but the McLaren driver’s problems were greater than the one incident. The McLaren teammates coming together on Lap 66 of 70 in the Canadian GP was the major talking point in Montreal. Norris misjudged his chance to overtake Piastri for fourth place, as the Briton ran into the Australian as he did not realise there was no room on the pit straight.

Marc Marquez overcame a last-gasp change to his launch control device to win the Sprint at the Italian Grand Prix, as Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia came third. Mugello saw Marquez score his 100th career pole position on Saturday morning, but the 32-year-old’s chances to win the Sprint at the 2025 Italian GP hit a bump before the lights went out. Yet Marquez recovered to win his eighth Sprint from a potential nine thus far this term.

Lewis Hamilton has now failed to take a podium finish during his first 10 races as a Ferrari driver, making it his worst start to a Formula 1 season in his 19-year career. Never before had Hamilton failed to reach the rostrum in the first 10 rounds of an F1 season since he debuted back in 2007 for McLaren. His previous worst start to a season came back in 2009 for McLaren and in 2024 for Mercedes when the 40-year-old made just one podium.

Fred Vasseur cut a defiant figure at the 2025 F1 Canadian Grand Prix as the Ferrari team principal fought off reports in the Italian press that he could be sacked soon. Speculation was rife heading into the Canadian GP last weekend that the pressure is building on Vasseur to save his skin after the Scuderia’s sorry year thus far. The Frenchman has been in charge since December 2022, but he is set to be out of contract at the end of this season.

Lando Norris is now almost a full Grand Prix win behind Oscar Piastri in the 2025 F1 drivers’ championship after the McLaren man crashed in last Sunday’s Canadian GP. Late contact between the McLaren pair on Lap 66 of 70 in the Canadian GP saw Norris retire on the spot after he rear-ended Piastri. A massive 22 points now separate the papaya pals in the F1 drivers’ standings after the first 10 of 14 rounds to be held across the 2025 F1 season.

Good on @NicholasLatifi for calling out the abhorrent abuse he received after the #AbuDhabiGP. No matter how the final laps played out, that had nothing to do with him while his crash is just part of #F1 and battling for any and every position.

Really can’t see this as the end. Expected the stewards would deny Mercedes’ protest of the restart, but surely Merc take it to CAS - how can the #F1 title be decided by Masi making a hash of a clear rule? Either way, not how Hamilton or Verstappen will have wanted today to end
