Red Bull driver Max Verstappen scored his second pole position of the season at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after beating McLaren rival Oscar Piastri by 0.010 seconds. The four-time reigning drivers’ champion has now taken pole at back-to-back editions of the Saudi Arabian GP, too, as Verstappen topped qualifying before winning the race in 2024. But the 2025 running was a much closer affair after he beat Charles Leclerc by 0.319s last year.

Lando Norris has put himself at a big disadvantage for the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the drivers’ championship after crashing in qualifying to only get 10th place. The 25-year-old arrived in Jeddah atop the F1 drivers’ standings, yet Norris only has a three-point lead over his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. His advantage might now be destroyed on Sunday after failing to set a lap time in Q3 before burying his MCL39 in the wall at Turn 5.

Lewis Hamilton is enduring another difficult weekend with Ferrari at the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after only managing to qualify in P7 for Sunday’s race in Jeddah. The 40-year-old has struggled for pace in every session at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit and is now set to start the Saudi Arabian GP on the fourth row of the grid. Hamilton could only do a 1:28.201 lap in Q3, whilst Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc posted a 1:27.670 to claim P4.

Jack Miller secured his place on the 2025 MotoGP grid by joining Pramac as a factory Yamaha rider, which also sees him now work closely with Fabio Quartararo this year. The Australian’s future appeared likely to be away from the premier class when KTM Factory Racing opted to replace Miller with Pedro Acosta. Instead, a move over to World Superbikes started to gather momentum before Yamaha secured Pramac to be their new satellite team.

Good on @NicholasLatifi for calling out the abhorrent abuse he received after the #AbuDhabiGP. No matter how the final laps played out, that had nothing to do with him while his crash is just part of #F1 and battling for any and every position.

Really can’t see this as the end. Expected the stewards would deny Mercedes’ protest of the restart, but surely Merc take it to CAS - how can the #F1 title be decided by Masi making a hash of a clear rule? Either way, not how Hamilton or Verstappen will have wanted today to end
