    GLIDE — Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) is dealing with the Jim Creek Fire. DFPA Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said Thursday night at approximately 7:50 p.m. firefighters from their agency along with Central Douglas Fire & Rescue and Glide Rural Fire Protection District responded to an estimated 10 to 15 acre logging slash and timber fire approximately nine miles southeast of Glide, near Cavitt Creek Road.

    June 27, 2025 11:00 a.m.  With the Fourth of July approaching, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is reminding residents that fireworks and explosives are strictly prohibited within Oregon State Parks and the entire ocean shore. An OPRD release said park staff encourage visitors to celebrate responsibly on July 4th and leave fireworks at home when visiting state parks and beaches.

    SUTHERLIN POLICE JAIL WOMAN FOLLOWING ALLEGED ROADWAY INCIDENTJune 27, 2025 10:30 a.m.  Sutherlin Police jailed a woman following a roadway incident on Thursday. An SPD report said at about 3;00 p.m. the 47-year-old was taken into custody for allegedly throwing things in the roadway in the 700 block of Hastings Avenue. She had reportedly also been dancing in the roadway, stripping off her clothing and blocking traffic.

    June 27, 2025 10:10 a.m.   Sutherlin Police jailed a man for theft and trespass charges on Thursday. An SPD report said on Tuesday afternoon, neighbors allegedly caught the 18-year-old and another male taking a bike out of a victim’s carport in the 1200 block of East Central Avenue. The suspects dropped the bike and ran. Both were reportedly seen on video leaving the trailer park. Thursday morning just after 10:00 a.m. an officer located the suspect, knowing there was probable for his arrest.
