Right-handed starting pitcher Pablo López will be out for at least two weeks after he suffered a right hamstring strain, the Minnesota Twins announced Friday. López was placed on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Wednesday, when he was taken out in the fifth inning against Kansas City. The 29-year-old Twins ace has allowed three earned runs in 16⅔ innings this season, striking out 14 batters while walking two.

Authorities say a Minnesota state trooper was involved in a three-vehicle crash that seriously injured a child Wednesday night in Sherburne County. The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after 9 p.m. on U.S. Highway 10 near 70th Avenue in Clear Lake Township, a few miles southeast of St. Cloud. The state trooper was responding to a report of a wrong-way driver on Highway 10 when that driver hit another vehicle.

A Ramsey County judge issued an order this week banning a company that specializes in highlighter-shaped vape products from doing business in Minnesota. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison sued High Light Vape in January, accusing the company of peddling deceptive vape products geared toward underage consumers. Such a practice — particularly designing the vapes to mimic school supplies — violated state law, the filing states.

As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, authorities in Minnesota and Wisconsin will run two tornado drills on Thursday, once in the afternoon and again in the evening. The drills are scheduled to start at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., with cities and counties activating their outdoor siren systems.
